On news and value
Fragments from imaginary dialogues
“I don’t watch news.“
“Isn’t it important to be informed?“
“What does ‘being informed’ really mean?
Some information has utility value. Its value lies in its usefulness.
Most information only has novelty value (temporal). Its value lies merely in being new. So it’s actually non-value.
20% of news is useful.
80% is useless.
I’m very mindful of the information I consume. I choose to focus only on information that has timeless value (atemporal).“
